Your Artificial Studio Credit Balance Isn't Wrong. It's Just Not a Limit.

What I Was Actually Testing

Artificial Studio gives every account 20 free credits that refresh every 24 hours. That much is stated plainly in the app — a real toast notification confirms it directly: "Your 20 daily credits are ready! Refreshes every 24 hours." The sidebar even shows a live countdown to your next reset once you've spent anything.

What isn't obvious — and what I tested directly rather than assumed — is what that number actually controls. It looks like a spending limit. It behaves like a live balance. It's neither, fully.

The Test

I ran a real generation on Create Image using the GPT Image 2 model at Medium quality — 11 credits. Balance went from 20 to 9, confirmed exactly in both the sidebar and the account's Usage ledger. So far, that's exactly what you'd expect from a normal, accurately-tracked balance.

Then I ran the same generation again. With only 9 credits showing — not enough to cover an 11-credit charge — I hit Generate anyway.

It went through. Full generation, fully completed, sitting in my Library as a real finished image. The Usage ledger confirmed the charge: Total Spent jumped from 35 to 46 credits — the full 11, charged in full, on top of a balance that couldn't cover it.

So What's Actually Going On?

The displayed number is accurate and updates live — it's not a stale or buggy display. The real issue is simpler and easy to miss: it's a meter, not a gate. Nothing in the interface stops a generation just because its cost exceeds what's currently showing. You can spend past your daily allowance in a single click, and the app will let you.

Why This Matters If You're On the Free Tier

This isn't a huge deal if you're only ever running 1-credit tools — most of the Audio and Text categories are priced that low, and a few tools (Brand Kit, Remove Background, Image Depth Map) are free outright. But Artificial Studio's catalog spans a huge pricing range on a single day's 20-credit allowance:

• Create Image (GPT Image 2) ranges from 1 credit (Low) to 36 credits (High) — a 36x spread on one tool depending on a dropdown
• Edit Video starts at 36 credits — more than your entire daily allowance in one click
• Text to 3D starts at 75 credits — nearly 4 days' worth of free credits in a single generation
• The app's own "Explore Tools" card says "Browse 50+ AI tools." The real catalog, counted across all six categories, is 92 tools.

If you're budgeting your day around that 20-credit counter without checking a tool's actual cost first, it's easy to end up spending several days ahead of schedule without realizing it until the ledger tells you.

The One Thing You Can Actually Do

Check a tool's real credit cost before you generate, not after. The daily counter is honest about what you have — it just won't stop you from spending more than that.
