Kling AI Says It Has 21 Tools. I Counted 8.

I clicked every single one of the 21 tools listed in Kling AI's catalog. Six of them land on the exact same page. Four of them aren't separate destinations at all.

๐Ÿ“ข This post includes a referral code for Kling AI โ€” their program pays in bonus credits, not cash commission, and costs you nothing extra either way. I only cover tools I've actually used and tested myself.

What I Was Actually Testing

Kling AI's "All Tools" page lists 21 entries across Video Generation, Image Generation, and Sound Generation โ€” 11 video tools, 8 image tools, 2 sound tools. That's a real, correct count of what's on the page.

What I wanted to know is whether those 21 entries are 21 real, independent destinations โ€” or whether some of them just route back to the same place with a different label on the button. So instead of testing one feature and moving on, I clicked every single one and recorded exactly where each click landed.

The Video Composer: Six Entries, Two Real Pages

Click Text to Video, and you land on a composer with a resolution/length/ratio settings bar and an "Add start and end frames" panel. Click Image to Video from the main catalog instead โ€” same panel, same settings bar, same Generate button. The only thing that changes in the URL is a single parameter (trackName); everything else about the page is identical.

Smart Shot Segmentation lands on that exact same page too. That's three of the eleven video-tool entries funneling into one composer.

The other three โ€” Image/Subject Reference, Instruction Transformation, and Video Reference โ€” land somewhere different: a richer "Omni" composer with an Element picker and support for up to 7 reference images or videos. Still one real page, just a second one, shared by three more entries.

Confirmed directly: 6 of Kling's 11 video-tool catalog entries resolve to just 2 real composer pages.

Four "Tools" That Aren't Destinations at All

Generate any image in Kling, and the result screen shows a "Next Steps" panel underneath it โ€” real options like Create in Omni, Generate Video, Upscale, and three more: Inpaint, Expand, and Remove.

Those three names are also listed as standalone entries in the main "All Tools" catalog, sitting right alongside Text to Video and Motion Control as if they were their own independent products. They aren't. They're contextual actions that only appear after you've already generated something โ€” there's no dedicated page for "Inpaint" you can navigate to on its own. The same pattern holds for Lip Sync on the video side, appearing as a "Next Steps" option after generating a video rather than as its own destination.

Four catalog entries. Zero independent pages.

So What's the Real Number?

Mapping every one of the 21 entries against what it actually opens:

Catalog entriesWhat it actually is
Text to Video, Image to Video, Smart Shot Segmentation1 page โ€” the simple composer
Image/Subject Reference, Instruction Transformation, Video Reference1 page โ€” the Omni composer
Text to Image, Image Reference, Restyle1 page โ€” the image composer
Inpaint, Image Expansion, RemoveNot separate destinations โ€” contextual buttons on a finished image
Lip SyncNot a separate destination โ€” a contextual button on a finished video
Virtual Model, AI Outfit1 page โ€” the AI Virtual Try-On tool, two tabs
Text to Audio, Video to Audio1 page โ€” the Sound Effects tool, two tabs
Motion ControlIts own real page
Digital HumanIts own real page
Creative EffectsIts own real page
Custom ModelIts own real page

Eight real, independent destinations. Not twenty-one.

Why This Actually Matters

This isn't really a complaint about Kling padding a marketing number โ€” the underlying generation engines are genuinely capable, and grouping related functions behind shared composers is a normal product decision. The issue is purely about expectations: if you go looking for "Inpaint" as its own tool with its own settings and workflow, you'll spend time hunting for something that only exists as a button on an image you've already made. Knowing the real map before you start saves that time.

The One Thing You Can Actually Do

Don't treat the "All Tools" catalog as 21 separate workflows to learn. It's really four things: a video composer (with two entry points), an image composer, a handful of standalone specialty tools (Motion Control, Digital Human, Creative Effects, Custom Model, Virtual Try-On, Sound Effects), and a set of finishing actions that only appear after you've already generated something.
