Why TubeBuddy's Free Plan Isn't On The Pricing Page

What The Pricing Page Actually Shows

TubeBuddy's pricing page lists three tiers: Pro at $12/month, Legend at $26.39/month, and Enterprise at custom pricing. Even the Pro tier has several features greyed out — Content Strategy Tools, Audience Understanding Tools, YouTube Shorts Linking, and Topical Analysis are all locked to Legend only.

Nowhere on this page does it say "free." If you're comparing TubeBuddy against vidIQ or another tool with a visible free tier, this page makes it look like TubeBuddy doesn't have one at all.

Signing In Anyway

I signed in and started the checkout flow out of curiosity, then backed out before entering any payment details — that's not what I was actually testing. Once I got into the real dashboard, my account badge read "STARTER." A plan name that never appeared on the pricing page.

Confirmed: a real, free "Starter" plan exists — it's only visible once you're signed in, never on the page that's supposed to show you your options.

What Starter Actually Gets You

Not everything is locked. Launch Pad Dashboard — the checklist tool for making sure a video is ready before you publish — worked immediately on Starter, no upgrade wall, no extension required.

But the tools that actually answer "is my channel growing" are gated further. Keyword Rank Tracking requires a separate "Star" tier — also never listed on the pricing page — just to track 5 keywords. Retention Analyzer, which shows what content on your channel keeps viewers watching, flatly requires Legend: the $26.39/month top tier, for one feature.

What This Doesn't Mean

This isn't a claim that TubeBuddy is deliberately hiding anything — I don't know why the Starter and Star tiers are absent from the public pricing page, whether that's an oversight or a deliberate design choice. What I can confirm is what I tested directly: the page that's supposed to show your options doesn't show all of them.

The One Thing You Can Actually Do

If you've written TubeBuddy off as "no free option," it's worth signing in and checking — Starter is real, and Launch Pad alone might be enough depending on what you need. Just don't expect the free plan or the Star tier to show up anywhere on the pricing page itself.
